Queen's Tavern Ceremony & West Garden Room Reception

Alissa & Mike graduated from the same school but had never dated until years later.  At a mutual friend’s party they started talking and never looked back.  Alissa had asked Mike not to propose on a holiday, so Mike waited until February 15th to pop the question. Their wedding bands have great sentimental value-Alissa’s wedding band was worn by both her mother and grandmother, and Mike’s wedding band was his great-grandfather’s. A flurry of wedding planning ensued, but one part was already decided-the location.  As Charlevoix natives, Michael and Alissa loved the Castle.  Alissa works at Castle Farms as an Inquiry Coordinator and had fallen in love with the King’s West Garden Room for the reception.  The ceremony was scheduled for the West Courtyard but the weather didn’t cooperate so it was moved indoors to the Queen’s Tavern.
“I was bummed because the flowers in the courtyard were so beautiful, but I knew the Queen’s Tavern would be a great substitute and we loved how the room looked set-up for our ceremony,” Alissa said.  Alissa was walked down the aisle by her 3 uncles, each one taking her 1/3 of the way.  The couple used a wine ceremony to honor their parents and blend their families together.  Guests loved the Queen’s Tavern atmosphere and authentic masonry.  After the intimate ceremony the bridal party took photos in the Butterfly Garden, Queen’s Courtyard, and Knight’s Courtyard.

During the reception guests dined at food stations and enjoyed a tasty cake, both by Sayre’s Catering.  The weather cleared and they were able to mingle in the attached West Courtyard.  “The Castle and it’s great staff made my wedding everything I could have hoped for,” said Alissa.  “Janelle, my coordinator, took great care of me and was always on the look-out for the little details.  She was also my florist, and I couldn’t have been happier with the bouquets and centerpieces.  We are so glad that we had our wedding at a location that is so important to us, surrounded by great friends and family.”
