“Now let's fast forward 7 months to the day we got engaged. After another delicious meal at Karl’s house we decided to go to the gravel pit and climb up the hill again. This time it was at sunset and as we were admiring the view Karl told me to look down at the bottom of the hill. He had written in the sand "Will you marry me?" with flowers and candles around the letters. When I turned back around Karl was on one knee with the ring!!! The best part of the story was that there was a little hiccup in his plan. Karl had written out the message a few hours earlier.
When he went to back to drop off the flowers he found that some kids had been at the gravel pit and had written an inappropriate answer to his question below it!!
He had to hurry up and erase the large letters before his big moment. He said it took him over an hour to erase all remnants of the seven foot letters. Needles to say, it all worked out and it makes a great story to tell!

"We didn't rush in to planning. We were savoring the moment of being engaged. It was actually my Dad's idea for us to get married somewhere other than our hometown. He mentioned a plantation but that was just way out of our budget. My Aunt is a Charlevoix native and she mentioned that there was a Castle up north that did weddings. Karl is really into the Medieval Times and once he heard about the Castle he was hooked."
