“Let's start at the beginning... Karl and I had known each other for about a year before we got together.  His best friend was dating my best friend.  (They ended up getting married later.  Now we can say that our best friends married each other!)  One night while we were all out watching his cousin's band play everything just clicked!  We went on first date two days later and as they say…the rest was history.”

"Our first date was typical. I went to Karl's house and he cooked us dinner. After a delicious meal we went for a stroll. The walk lead us to a gravel pit, of all places! In the middle of the pit was a large hill that we climbed up and I am glad I did. The view from a top the hill was great!"

“Now let's fast forward 7 months to the day we got engaged. After another delicious meal at Karl’s house we decided to go to the gravel pit and climb up the hill again. This time it was at sunset and as we were admiring the view Karl told me to look down at the bottom of the hill. He had written in the sand "Will you marry me?" with flowers and candles around the letters. When I turned back around Karl was on one knee with the ring!!! The best part of the story was that there was a little hiccup in his plan. Karl had written out the message a few hours earlier. When he went to back to drop off the flowers he found that some kids had been at the gravel pit and had written an inappropriate answer to his question below it!! He had to hurry up and erase the large letters before his big moment. He said it took him over an hour to erase all remnants of the seven foot letters.  Needles to say, it all worked out and it makes a great story to tell!

"We didn't rush in to planning.  We were savoring the moment of being engaged.  It was actually my Dad's idea for us to get married somewhere other than our hometown.  He mentioned a plantation but that was just way out of our budget.  My Aunt is a Charlevoix native and she mentioned that there was a Castle up north that did weddings.  Karl is really into the Medieval Times and once he heard about the Castle he was hooked."

"We started our planning and everything fell into place.  I found the absolutely perfect princess dress and a tiara to go with it.  The weather cooperated, although it was a little scary at first, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.  The two days prior to the wedding it was stormy and 40 degrees.  When I woke up the first words out of my mouth before my eyes were even open was that "it was sunny out."  Our reception area looked like “purplepalooza” and the theme was classic elegance. We got married on September 5, 2010 and it has been a fairy tale ever since!"
