Your imagination is the only limit to what you can do at Castle Farms! Let our Tour Director help you plan a tour that meets the needs of your group. Whether that is adding a luncheon, dinner, snack, playing turn-of-the-century lawn games, adding educational lessons, or other ideas you may have, we would be happy to host and accommodate your group.

LAWN GAMES

Giant chess sets are always out for your use with either self-guided or guided tours. For group tours, we also offer Croquet, Bocce Ball or Lawn Bowling near our King’s Courtyard for a fee of $1 per person.  Just contact our tour office to reserve your lawn games.

EDUCATIONAL
SERVICES

If requested, we can include a lesson on :

  • “Castle Math” - Young children will work to better their estimating skills of distance by learning how pacing off a distance can help to gain a more accurate estimate. Older children can increase their estimating skills of heights by making an “astrolabe” out of a protractor, straw, string and weight and use it to mathematically figure a more accurate height of the towers, roofs, etc. Other lessons can include finding areas or volumes of various geometric figures found at Castle Farms.

  • “Michigan History” or “History of Farming” - This tour covers the history of Loeb Farms, Castle Van Haver, as well as Castle Farms, and depicts how it is part of our Michigan heritage.

  • “History of Castles” - Architecture and attributes of castles found in Europe is first discussed using pictures of defensive European castles. Then, as students go on their tour of Castle Farms, they will be asked to point out the same architectural elements found right here at Castle Farms!

  • “World War I” - To show how this time in history impacted Castle Farms in Northern Michigan, individuals from the area and a collection of items from our very own museum will be used to present this time period in our history.

  • Guided Tours for a specific age group can be accommodated, from preschool through Senior Citizens. We have an excellent staff able to delight the inquisitive student in everyone!
