Thank you for considering Castle Farms as your next historic tour destination. Whether you’re drawn to the allure of a century of history, the enchanting gardens, the captivating garden railroad, the regal collections, or a tram ride, rest assured that you are in for an unforgettable experience.

The History

Constructed in 1918 by the acting President of Sears & Roebuck, Castle Farms began as the vision of Loeb Farms. The dream was to establish the world’s premier farm using the very products Sears & Roebuck offered. In 1918, this dream materialized with Loeb Farms, setting world records in dairy production. Mr. Loeb, enamored with castles, instructed the architect to design the farm in a French, Normandy style resembling a castle.

Over the years, the Castle evolved into an artist Mecca and concert venue until Linda, our current owner, acquired it in 2001. Linda dedicated herself to restoring the facility to its former glory, impressing the Loeb family descendants, who offered her a copy of the original blueprints. Using these blueprints, Linda and her team meticulously restored Castle Farms to its historically accurate splendor.

Today, the Castle hosts an average of 200 weddings annually, special events, fundraisers, and daily historical tours. The property boasts 10 Proven Winners gardens, each adorned with an array of flowers blooming throughout the seasons. The Blacksmith Shop has been transformed into a 1918/WWI Museum, showcasing items from the Sears & Roebuck catalog and local WWI memorabilia.

Experience the thrill of 25 trains running on over 3/4 mile of track through the garden railroad. Witness a model of the Pier Marquette, the train the Loeb family took to their Charlevoix summer home, and explore fantasy trains weaving through a hedge maze.

Collections from global castles, on-site forged metalwork, concert memorabilia, a reflection pond, life-sized chess sets, and even a dragon contribute to the unique charm of Castle Farms.
