Knight's Castle Reception

Suzanne’s family owns a cottage in Bay View and has been coming up north her whole life. When Suzanne got into college, she started working at the Side Door Saloon for her summer job. In the summer of 2004, John took a job as a designer for Bay View’s Summer Theatre Program. One night, John came in to the Side Door for drinks with friends and Suzanne knew that she had to meet that guy! He sat at a table that was not in her section and Suzanne paid the other waitress 5 dollars to give her that table so she could talk to John. It was literally love at first sight! John came in a few times after that and then proceeded to leave his phone number for her on a napkin (which is not like him at all!) They met up with some mutual friends because they lived a block away from one another and through long distances and many life changing experiences; they have remained together since that point.

For the Christmas of 2007, John and his family invited Suzanne home to Massena, New York for the holidays. On Christmas Eve afternoon, while Suzanne was still in her pajamas, she and John sat in his parents’ sunroom and put in James Taylor’s Christmas album. John turned to Suzanne and said “I really need to ask you something and it just can’t wait any longer…” Suzanne knew exactly what he was going to ask and she replied with “Yes…of course!”

"We had our ceremony in Bay View’s Fairview Park. This is right across the street from the Suzanne's family cottage. Ever since Suzanne was a little girl, she wanted to be able to walk from her cottage, into the park and be married. Since we met in Bay View, we really felt like it was a special place in both of our hearts and the wedding should definitely happen there. We wanted to be able to share this place with all of our loved ones and especially, John’s family."

"I had heard about Castle Farms from my brothers and their Def Leppard days and I stumbled upon it again through our search for a reception venue. I took one look and knew that it was the right choice. And it was the PERFECT choice! Everything about the reception was more than we could have ever expected. The Knight’s Castle was decorated beautifully and the staff could not have been any easier to work with! We just feel truly blessed to have had such a wonderful evening that our guests are still talking about! The night was such a dream come true that we are still pinching ourselves to make sure that it all really happened."

July 28 - 29, 2012 - Fiber Arts Festival More than 50 vendors will be at Castle Farms displaying their wares during the Fiber Arts Festival July 28-29, 2012. Live animals, such as sheep and alpaca, and interactive demonstrations including sheep dogs at work and sheep-shearing presentations, provide hours of enjoyment, as well as being educational. The Fiber Fashion Show, featuring handmade items such as hats, sweaters and lace shawls, highlights the Festival and is great fun for all. The Fiber Arts Festival - a perfect way to celebrate nature’s bounty while enjoying the natural beauty of Castle Farms.	October 24 - 31, 2012 - Antique Dress & Quilt Display Visit Castle Farm’s Wedding Attire From Across the Decades, on display October 24th - 31th. This fascinating glimpse of antique bridal gowns and grooms’ attire kicks off the celebration of the Castle’s 8th Annual Grand Bridal Expo, Sunday, October 28th, 2012.

This annual event held during Labor Day Weekend, is set amidst the majesty of the magnificent stone buildings and sweeping gardens of Castle Farms, and features displays from the finest of Northern Michigan crafters.
