Before you plan your wedding
So, you’ve just gotten engaged…Now what!? It’s okay if you don’t know where to start, because we’re here to help! Here is a wedding planning “checklist before the checklist”, things to consider and steps to take before you start planning the fine details of your wedding.
- Determine which season you would like to host your wedding.
The first step in figuring out your wedding plans is to pick a season! It is a good idea to have this nailed down, as it can impact where you want to get married and what type of venue you are looking for. If you’re planning a winter wedding, you’ll need to make sure your venues have indoor spaces available!
- Choose a theme.
This is the fun part! There are a lot of different ways you could go with this and a lot of different color combinations to choose from. You could do bright pastels for summer or dark jewel tones for winter. Or vice versa. That’s the great part; it’s your wedding so you can do whatever you want with it!
- Determine the guest count.
This is where things start to get more detailed – deciding who to invite and how many people to invite. Once you have a general idea for guest count, you’ll be able to move forward with selecting your venue and planning your budget, as your head count may change what venue you can host your wedding in and how much you will spend on catering, favors, etc.
- Pick a location for your wedding.
Once you know the season, theme, and guest count, it’s time to pick a venue. This might be one of the most exciting parts of planning! You’ll options will be able to be narrowed down based on whether it matches with the theme of your wedding and whether your guest list can be accommodated with any capacity restraints. Once a venue is chosen, your other vendors will fall into place relatively easily. Have fun shopping around!
